Coaching

Coaching and counseling form the heart of EvoLibri’s services. We work with individuals and families to first identify ‘where the pain is,’ and then develop a plan to address the issues, whether it is a targeted, short-term service, or a comprehensive, multidisciplanary plan. We not only help develop the map, but provide case management and ongoing support to guide clients through their transition to independence.

Professional Job Coaching — EvoLibri is unusual because the vast majority of our clients will work in Competitive Integrated Employment, and hold salaried, professional jobs. And while these are appropriate jobs for our clients, that doesn’t mean that they may not need some help from time to time. We work with employed adults on time management, organization, and prioritization skills, decision making, workload balancing, social interactions, stress and anxiety reduction, and more. As with all of our coaching, we take a 360 approach, ensuring that all aspects of life are in balance while we teach new skills. For cases that need a more therapeutic approach, we work with our clients to find resources that are cost-effective and covered by insurance when possible. We are proud to be under contract with SAP and Microsoft to deliver these coaching services to employees, and work with private pay clients from all over the Bay Area.

Career/Vocation & Transition Assessment and Counseling — we believe that in order to make the most out of college (indeed, for many to be successful while in college), students must know why they are there — beyond the societal norm of ‘go to college’. Using traditional assessments such as the Strong Interest Inventory, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and SkillScan — as well as our own proprietary tools assessing transition-readiness in several domains, we walk our clients through a comprehensive career exploration, taking into consideration interests, academic strengths and weaknesses, personality fit, we come up with a short list of potential jobs/careers, as well as local colleges and schools where clients can attain the necessary training/education. We also provide comprehensive review of market demand in selected career domains, as well as a salary review for entry level positions in these careers. The result is a comprehensive transition plan for young adults readying for launch.

Transition Planning and Counseling — For those clients choosing not to attend post-secondary school or who have already completed college but have not left home or who are having difficulty with independent living, we provide comprehensive ILS assessment to determine the areas of relative weakness and offer suggestions for ameliorating these areas, from specific goals to be met while living in the family home to in-office coaching and skills-building to comprehensive delivery of ILS services in the home.

Executive Function Skills Training — For clients with poor EF (time management, poor organization, attentional challenges) we provide skills training, in part using Jan’s new book, The CEO of Self, as well as other tools to develop base EF skills to serve the client through his/her life. Skills learned depend on need, client’s age, and developmental readiness, but generally always cover time management and attentional regulation.

High School/College Success — School is much more demanding now than ever before and many students find themselves drowning in schoolwork, unable to keep up. This in turn can lead to anxiety and depression — serious conditions unto themselves. But without getting to the root cause of these disorders — the untamed school work — students can never really get ahead. We provide coaching on how to manage school work, role play tough conversations with teachers and professors, and when needed, become the go-between between the school, the student, and the family, to reduce tension and arguments. Our goal is to ensure that each student learns how to manage their own time, their own workloads — and their own lives.

Skills Coaching — We have several clients who come to us to master various skills relating to effects of their neurodiversity. These challenges include emotional regulation, sensory issues, sleep problems, motor skills and social shyness. Intervention starts with psychoeducational discussion about the cause of these challenges, and then we develop goals with the client. Once the goals are in place, we develop a plan to address these issues, both in session and by giving homework assignments for the client to perform between sessions.
